Amanda Ripley, NCIDQ, IIDA

Senior Associate | Interior Designer

Amanda offers ten years of experience in healthcare working on all phases of interior design, from programming to furniture selection to construction administration. She is innately adept at connecting the layout, function, and aesthetic of interior spaces while understanding maintenance and durability.

Andrew Bowers, AIA, LEED AP, cLSGB, EDAC

Principal

Andrew offers decades of experience in healthcare design, spending his entire career working with Wilmot Sanz transforming patient environments that empower healing. With a focus in complex renovations for behavioral health and cancer care, He is seasoned project manager and medical planner managing projects soup to nuts from pre-design phases to closeout and post-occupancy evaluations, including management and design leadership.

Andrew continues to nurture and inspire passion among the next generation of healthcare designers and is determined to convince new professionals that healthcare is where you want to be. 

Andrew Bowers, AIA, LEED AP, cLSGB, EDAC, holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech, is a registered architect and LEED accredited professional, is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified and has earned his accreditation and certification in Evidence Based Design from the Center for Health Design. He was honored with the Rising Star Award from Healthcare Design Magazine in 2020. 

Carissa Mejia

Architectural Designer

As a graduate of the University of Maryland, Carissa is a bright young designer learning the ropes of healthcare design through practical application and knowledge working with our healthcare clients on projects ranging from targeted interior renovations to full hospital transformations. With an additional minor in Construction Project Management, she also excels in Construction Administration working alongside project managers and contractors to assist in the field during construction. Carissa spearheads the firm’s Young Professional Group, focused on professional development and ARE study groups.

Dorris Hwang, RA, EDAC, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP

Senior Associate | Technical Enclosure Director

With nearly a decade of experience in healthcare design, Dorris serves as the firms’ Technical Enclosure Director focusing on exterior design. A truly dynamic professional and an effective communicator across diverse stakeholder groups, her skillset seamlessly blends aesthetic design, technical detailing, and project management.  Drawing on her passion for improving the lives of people and the environment, she serves to bridge aesthetic and technical considerations, enhance quality control, and push the envelope with fresh and sustainable solutions that improve our healthcare projects inside and out.

Dorris holds her Bachelor in Architectural Studies from the University of Washington. She is a registered architect, a LEED Accredited Professional, a WELL Accredited Professional and has earned her accreditation and certification in Evidence Based Design from the Center for Health Design. In 2024, she was honored with the Rising Star Award from Healthcare Design Magazine and participated in the AIA DC Christopher Kelly Leadership Development Program.

Gabryela Passeto, EDAC, cLSGB

Senior Medical Planner

Gabryela is a Senior Medical Planner with decades of experience in healthcare programming and medical planning. Passionate about creating patient-centric environments, she specializes in optimizing operational workflows and transforming complex healthcare facilities. With a strong focus on process improvement and stakeholder collaboration, Gabryela leverages her design expertise to create efficient and effective spaces that enhance the patient journey. Her ability to envision and communicate the potential of a space empowers clients to realize the full potential of their healthcare facilities. 

She earned her BArch from the Catholic University of America, is a certified LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt and has earned her accreditation and certification in Evidence Based Design from the Center for Health Design.

Gregory Chang, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP, cLSGB

Partner

Greg is an architect and medical planner with more than 30 years of experience designing innovative complex healthcare projects across the US, MENA and Asia. His design process creates inspirational spaces that are community-focused and validated with operational process improvements. Greg is a partner at Wilmot Sanz, previously he was a principal at Perkins + Will, AECOM and Ellerbe Becket. He is currently on the Board for the AIA|DC chapter and the Board of Visitors for The Catholic University of America – School of Architecture, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a recipient of the Building Design + Construction (BD+C) 40-under-40 award, a distinguished guest critic at Penn State University, and his work has won numerous awards and publications. A registered architect in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York, Greg holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Catholic University of America, is a certified LEAN Sigma Green Belt in Healthcare from Johns Hopkins Medicine, and a LEED accredited professional. He enjoys running, traveling and spending time with his family.

Jason Moskowitz

Senior Associate | Business Development

Jason, a Senior Associate, leads the firm’s business development and strategic operations, spending nearly two decades impacting firm growth. With long term ties to the firm, Jason understands the value Wilmot Sanz brings to our healthcare clients and works closely with senior and next gen leaders to develop and maintain client relationships. 

He has been involved with the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) in the Washington, DC area since 2007 and holds his degree from the University of Maryland. 

Jenna Maier, AIA, EDAC, cLSGB, LEED AP BD+C

Associate Principal | Medical Planner

Jenna is an experienced architect specializing in medical planning for a wide range of healthcare institutions. Her focus has helped the firm improve processes offering direct impacts to design and programming effecting positive patient care. She works to understand a clients’ vision and how it influences decisions while also taking care to nurture small design details. She admires the way healthcare effects patients, healthcare workers and neighborhood stakeholders and how that positively impacts local communities. 

Jenna earned her BArch from Virginia Polytechnic and State University, and she is a certified LEAN Six Sigma Greenbelt. 

Jim Curran, AIA, LEED AP, cLSGB

Partner

Jim serves as the firms’ Design Director, providing innovation planning and design solutions in healthcare design. His experience ranges from outpatient clinics and cancer centers to new hospitals and healthcare campuses. Notable for their responsiveness to the functional requirements of healthcare delivery and emphasis on the needs and dignity of patients, his designs complement their surroundings and promote environmental sustainability.

Kristen DelGandio, CHID, NCIDQ, IIDA

Partner | Design Director

As Interior Design Director for Wilmot Sanz, Kristen leads a collaborative and multidisciplinary studio, developing innovative, research-based design solutions. She is an expert in health system brand promotion and creatively repositioning and modernizing existing assets. Kristen has led transformative design projects for leading academic medical systems such as Inova Health System, the University of Maryland Medical System, and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Matthew T. Ryan, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, EDAC

Senior Associate | Project Manager

Matt is an experienced technical architect specializing in project management and medical planning. His focus in clinical and medical lab renovations has helped the firm improve processes offering direct impacts to design and programming efforts. He collaborates closely with clients, design and engineering teams to deliver high quality, well-coordinated document sets and is actively involved in projects from design through construction administration. His attention to details in the healthcare space matches that of his passion for high quality, built environments. 

Miguel Pascale, AIA

Principal | Architect

Miguel brings decades of architectural and project management experience at Wilmot Sanz, specializing in healthcare facilities ranging from patient towers, ambulatory surgery centers and medical office buildings. He leads high-performance, multidisciplinary design teams in developing seamless construction documents and successfully delivers projects on time and on budget. He supports the firm in promoting top-to-bottom staffing from start to finish to improve the quality of project outcomes.

Rick Sasaki, AIA

Partner

Rick joined the firm almost 30 years ago and has dedicated his entire career to designing healthcare facilities ranging from targeted outpatient renovations to full replacement hospital transformations.

His expertise in service line and systemwide planning allows him to understand functional operations and align that with design programming and implementation.

He focuses on delivering high performing, modern healthcare facilities that serve the operator, clinicians and patients.

Rob Sanz, AIA, cLSGB

Partner

As a second generation Partner in the firm, Rob has dedicated his entire career to designing healthcare facilities at Wilmot Sanz. His work experience ranges from targeted outpatient renovations to full replacement hospital transformations.

He leads his teams to deliver high performing, modern healthcare facilities that serve the operator, clinicians and patients. Rob’s design ethos  is to impart mindfulness and healing through all walks of design.  He believer that understanding and thoughtfully reacting to how people work in, feel, and experience our built environments can lead to positive outcomes for all involved.

As a graduate of the University of Maryland, he enjoys returning to his alma mater to recruit young talent and is involved in the AIA Potomac Valley Chapter and the DC Chapter of the American Medical Facilities Professionals.

Valerie Alvarado, LEED Green Associate

Architectural Designer

Valerie offers the firm almost a decade of experience in healthcare design as an architectural designer. Having started her career as an intern at Wilmot Sanz, she brings a deep understanding of the firm’s culture and values. Her expertise lies in project detailing and construction administration, where they excel at ensuring that design intent is accurately translated into buildable plans and overseeing the project’s successful completion.

She holds a BArch from Penn State University and has earned her LEED Green Associate certification.
