Executing the master plan of a major Washington, DC hospital
Wilmot Sanz continues to work with Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC on the implementation of its long range master plan. The first phase is the creation of a state-of-the-art radiation oncology cancer center.
In addition to a medical office building and parking garage, currently under construction, the new Sibley will include a proposed 328-bed replacement patient pavilion and emergency department. The pavilion will feature all-private patient rooms, as well as comfortable, supportive family accommodations.
The new emergency department will be up-sized to handle 50,000 annual visits, with an efficient fast-track environment for less serious illnesses, while a new obstetrics department will have capacity for more than 5,000 births per year.
With great value placed on community involvement, we are designing the pavilion to create and preserve green space on campus and respect the character of the hospital's existing buildings. Additionally, we are working to improve traffic circulation patterns.
The project will be LEED certified.
