A four-story hospital addition
and major renovation
The centerpiece of Inova Fair Oaks Hospital's expansion program
is a four-story, 145,000-square-foot addition that increases
inpatient beds and patient services.
The addition provides two
new floors for inpatient care including 10 observation beds, 12
critical care beds, 36 medical/surgical beds and 34 intermediate
care beds. The medical/surgical and intermediate care units
have a large percentage of private patient rooms designed with patient,
family and staff zones, as well as decentralized nursing care stations.
The first floor of the new wing creates a new main entrance,
lobby and administrative offices; new dietary and material management
departments; and a service/delivery dock. The second floor houses an outpatient services "mall," including registration, pre-testing,
women's diagnostic services and entry to the imaging and ambulatory
surgery departments. New surgery facilities include four operating
rooms; and pre-op, PACU and stage II recovery space.
The new design provides needed support spaces,
such as nursing centers, supply and equipment storage and medication
and nourishment facilities.
Existing departments, such as emergency,
imaging, SPD, pharmacy, rehabilitation, labor/delivery, NICU and
pediatrics, were also remodeled to meet current standards and
accommodate projected hospital growth.
